Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal has backtracked on his decision to retire from international football.
The Bayern Munich midfielder announced he was hanging up his boots following Chile's failure to qualify for next summer's World Cup. He pushed his decision forward having initially planned to walk away after the tournament in Russia. But Vidal, who has 99 caps, has now completed a U-turn and vowed not to turn his back on his country.
- It is tough. But this is not the end of anything. Not the end of a generation, nor this team nor least the end of our dreams. We have much to fight for, much to give, a lot of joy ahead, Arturo posted on twitter.
Vidal wasn't the only Chile player to be considering his future after the World Cup heartache. Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and Gary Medel are expected to retire.
