Patrick Phiri scored a brace to lead Malawi to the top the top of A as they beat Swaziland 3-2 in their opening Group A match played on Wednesday 6 December.
Malawi opened the score through Peter Banda in the 15th minute. Malawi were dominant through the first half but failed to increase their lead on multiple occasions.
Swaziland came back from the break with a purpose and just 6 minutes into the second half Sabeze Muzi equalised with a low shot from inside the eighteen yard area.
Patrick Phiri then stole the show scoring in the 53rd minute and 64th with Swaziland's Gamese Sifiso scoring a goal in between Phiri's brace.
Malawi lead the group with three points with Zambia and Uganda going head in the late kick off at 1730hrs.
