Zambian top referee Janny Sikazwe has been appointed to steer the affairs of the opening match of the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) between hosts Morocco and Mauritania.
The two neighbours will go head to head on Saturday, 13th January at the Complexe Sportif Mohamed V in Casablanca.
Sikazwe, 38, has risen to become one of the foremost match officials on the continent since attaining international status in 2007.
The Kapiri Mposhi based teacher has officiated at the finals of every Africa Cup of Nations since 2012 but the highlight of his career on the continent came when he officiated the final of the 2017 edition between Cameroon and Egypt in Libreville.
For the CHAN, he made his debut at the 2014 edition in South Africa. Sikazwe will be assisted by Kenyan Marwa Aden Range and Arsenio Maringula of Mozambique. Louis Hakizimana of Rwanda will serve as the fourth official.
